ONLINE LESSON POLICY
Lessons will be conducted via Zoom a link will be sent to you prior to your first lesson. You will use the same link for your lesson each week.
Please do your best to be on time for your lesson. I understand that technical issues happen, please contact me if you are having trouble entering the meeting. If you have not entered the meeting by 10 minutes after your lesson start time and you have not contacted me your lesson time will be forfeited for the week. No credits or refunds will be given.
Please scan and send any materials outside of what I have given you and send them to me in advance so that they can be worked on during our lesson.
Please try to have a quiet space for your online lesson with as few distractions as possible. Please set up your camera so I have a clear view of you and your instrument. I will often share music via screen share so it is recommended that you use a device with a larger screen if possible.
All other policies below still apply where applicable.

LESSON FEE AND PAYMENT
Payments are due at the first lesson of each month, and will include all lessons for that month. Payments must be made IN FULL at this time. If payments are not made in full and on time, you will be removed from my schedule, and will need to re-apply to the program if you wish to continue with lessons.
I will be sending statements home each month, which will include your balance due, any balance changes due to payment credits (see ATTENDANCE policy), and other important information for the following month. Please use this statement to determine what you will owe at your first lesson of the month. If other payment arrangements need to be made, these must be handled with me on an individual basis BEFORE you owe for the month.
ATTENDANCE
Attendance is mandatory for all students. Consistent musical growth requires consistent instruction and practice. I understand that unexpected situations arise. Please notify me at least 48 hours in advance or you will be charged for the missed lesson. I have divided the lesson year into two semesters and one summer session. These run from September-December, January-May, and June-August. I am allowing two (2) absences per semester for ANY reason. Keep in mind, these are the ONLY absences I will excuse without payment, so please use them wisely. Reasons for using these might include illness or injury, family emergency, participation in a sporting or other school event, family vacation, etc. Once you have used these two absences, payment will be owed for any additional absences, for ANY reason, for the remainder of the semester. So once again, please plan accordingly and prioritize, because there will be NO exceptions to this policy. Please email ([email protected]) text or call (651-261-4077) and leave a message on my voicemail if you will be absent. NOTE: if lessons are missed for two consecutive weeks without notification of any kind, you will be removed from my schedule and your lesson time will be forfeited.
If I must miss a lesson for any reason, you will be notified as soon as possible, and you will NOT be charged for that lesson. If this happens in the month you have already paid for, you will be given a payment credit that will be used towards the following month’s lessons, and your next statement will reflect this change. If you are given any payment credits for the next month’s lessons, you must still pay at the FIRST lesson of the month.
If you wish to withdraw from lessons: notify the teacher and lesson personnel of intent to stop lessons at least two weeks before the final lesson. To ensure the student receives all lessons for which payment has been rendered, lessons must conclude at the end of the month.
PRACTICE
At home practice is essential to success and is required of all students. Please have a quiet space at home for practice with a chair and a music stand. Beginners should be practicing AT LEAST 15 minutes a day, intermediate students 30-45 minutes, and advanced students should be practicing an hour or more at least 5 days a week in order to be successful in music.
PUNCTUALITY
Please be prompt. There is no make-up for lost lesson time due to late arrival. Arriving a few minutes early will help keep my lesson schedule punctual.
LESSON MATERIALS
It is expected that students come prepared to all lessons. This includes having the proper instrument in working condition and any books or materials that have been assigned to you. Please note that mobile devices are allowed for educational purposes only. Failure to arrive prepared may result in losing your lesson time for that week. No refunds or credits will be given.
I hope these guidelines are helpful and will alleviate any misunderstanding. Please keep this for your records. If you have any questions, please feel free to discuss them with me.
